Welcome to FireTecWhile we predominately cover the UK & Ireland we have carried out work as far as Europe and the UAE and are confident we can help, whatever the issue, worldwide.

Welcome to FireTecWe have recently partnered with Retrotec Fire Integrity to become a UK & Ireland Reseller. We will also be providing training & tech support for Retrotec.

Room Integrity Testing

Enclosures protected by gaseous fire suppression systems should be tested for air tightness upon commissioning of any new system and annually thereafter. This is critical to ensure that the system will work effectively when activated as too much leakage will result in the concentration of the fire suppression agent dissipating and the required concentration or retention time not being achieved.

Firetec Specialist Services can provide the necessary Room Integrity testing in accordance with NFPA 2001 (2012 ed), BS ISO 14520, BS ISO 14520 (2006) and BS EN 15004.

We have extensive experience in testing all types and sizes of enclosures, from small server rooms to large data centres, gas turbine halls and desalination plants.

In each case we carry out the necessary volumetric calculations to check against as installed systems prior to the test and use a Retrotec Door System, with the latest Integrity software to calculate the test results which can be exported to a report on completion of the test. If the area fails the
Room Integrity test we can also provide costs to carry out any remedial sealing works.

Pressure relief venting

It has been determined through recent testing that synthetic gases such as FM200& Novec 1230 create under and over pressurisation on discharge, that could lead to structural damage. To prevent this, pressure relief vents should be installed where necessary. Using the latest software, pressure relief requirements can be ascertained.

Maintenance

Due to the critical nature of equipment protected by fire suppression systems, maintenance is of the utmost importance.
As fire suppression systems are usually installed to protect assets of high importance, financially or otherwise, or to protect hazardous areas, it is imperative that the client has full confidence in the installed system.

Servicing and maintenance ensures:

  • Systems are fit for purpose
  • Complies with insurance company's requirements
  • Reduces the risk of false alarms and equipment failure

We can provide electrical & mechanical maintenance to all types of systems and can also maintain HSSD systems, therefore with the ability to do integrity testing as well, we can provide all aspects of maintenance for suppressions systems negating the need for multiple engineers.

5101 Blower Door

5101 Blower Door

Definitely the most for the least. You cannot get more Enclosure Integrity value than the 5101F offers. Everything you need and nothing you don’t for entry level testing.

Test for hold times in flooded volumes up to 35,000 cu ft (1000 m3) for Inert agents and 70,000 cu ft (2000 m3) for halocarbon chemical agents.

Testing pressure relief vents will require more power however. This system will test the venting for a volume up to a maximum of 9,000 cu ft (250 m3) for Inert agents although vents up to 6 sq ft (0.6 m2) can be measured individually. Request literature on all of Retrotec systems to determine the size of enclosures that can be tested with each system. All Retrotec systems include tech support from Retrotec who originated the idea of Enclosure Integrity testing in 1984. They promoted it within NFPA and in 1986 wrote the first Enclosure Integrity standard. Retrotec has been the lead researcher for enclosure testing ever since. Every major clean agent system manufacturer worldwide relies on Retrotec’s expertise for both hold time and peak pressure predictions. 5000/6000 series blower doors DO NOT work with the DM-2 digital gauge.

6101 Blower Door

6101 Blower Door

Formerly: Model 3101 and Q4E

The new 6101 is even faster, easier to use with much more professional appearance.

All the features of a Model 5101 but double the power. The variable frequency drive gives fast and steady speed control making this system ideal for testing very large residential homes and commercial buildings with a single fan. The added power increases the range of test pressures that can be created without changing ranges mid test. The stability of control reduces the fan’s response to wind and holds the test pressure more constant, making tests faster and more accurate. New guide fins over the flow sensors decrease sensitivity to wind by 75%. System accessory and fan cases are optional with the 5101 but included in this Model 6101 system.

The Model 6100 performs fully automatic testing using the gauge, a laptop and FanTestic software. Alternatively, simply key the desired test pressure into the gauge and read “Air Changes” or “leakage per unit area” in real time directly from the touchscreen gauge; a unique and highly sought after Retrotec feature. The gauge also offers an onboard "Set-and-Forget" control of building pressure. All you need to do is choose your desired pressure, and then let the gauge do the rest. As you seal the leaks in your enclosure and the leakage rate decreases, the gauge automatically and instantly adjusts the fan speed to keep the enclosure at the correct pressure.

Software provided with the DM32 touchscreen gauge provides automatic data logging and remote gauge control from a laptop. With our new 5 year recommended calibration interval on the DM32, you will have the peace of mind knowing that yearly calibrations are a thing of the past.

This system will test a wide range of enclosures, from super leaky to super tight. This high output fan includes 6 standard + 3 optional low flow ranges to provide accurate results over the widest range of enclosure volumes. All Retrotec fans are made with extremely durable space-age hard plastic, which makes them both lightweight and tough. The optional high pressure cloth panel opens up other applications where more pressure is required such as rain penetration tests.

6000 Models DO NOT work with the DM-2 digital gauge.

6121 Blower Door

6121 Blower Door

Formerly: Q5E

With a sleek and professional appearance, the 6120 Series Blower Doors boast a powerful, 1.5 hp Model 6000 calibrated fan capable of up to 8500 CFM output, as well as a professional, modular hard-panel for the door frame which adjusts to fit a wide variety of door sizes, and a touchscreen DM32 gauge. This is a high output air leakage test system ideal for testing large residential homes and some commercial buildings with a single fan, since the modular Hard Panel is great for rapid set up in larger doorways.

The modular Hard Panel comes in a rugged carrying case and has an industrial strength Velcro strap to hold the fan securely.

With the fan installed in the door panel, the 6120 Series Blower Door perform fully automatic testing using the gauge, a laptop and the provided FanTestic software. Software provided with the DM32 touchscreen gauge provides automatic data logging, and remote gauge control from a laptop. With our new 5 year recommended calibration interval on the DM32, you will have the peace of mind knowing that yearly calibrations are a thing of the past.

Calibrated range configurations allow one fan to test a wide range of enclosures, from super leaky to super tight. This high output fan includes 9 flow ranges to provide accurate results over the widest range of enclosure volumes. All Retrotec fans are made with extremely durable space-age hard plastic foam, which makes them both lightweight and tough. They are also easily reversible: to switch from pressurizing to depressurizing your enclosure, simply flip the fan around in its panel.

6000 Models DO NOT work with the DM-2 digital gauge.

6212 Blower Door

6212 Blower Door

Double hi-power fans offers a huge advantage. Not only in the maximum size you can test; probably any enclosure. But also enough power to test large dampers while installed. The high power fans will test their ability to open and then accurately measure the entire relief vent pathway to ensure the peak pressure specifications are not exceeded.

Request literature on all of Retrotec systems to determine the size of enclosures that can be tested with each system.

Test for hold times in flooded volumes up to 102,000 cu ft (2000 m3) for Inert agents and 140,000 cu ft (4000 m3) for halocarbon chemical agents.

Testing pressure relief vents will require more power however. This system will test the venting for a volume up to a maximum of 24,000 cu ft (660 m3) for Inert agents although vents up to 16 sq ft (1.6 m2) can be measured individually.
